Andrew McCaughey

Legend has it that Andrew was born with a microphone, quizzing delivery room doctors on popular battlefield strategies of the Peloponnesian War. After being a steadfast trivia participant for the gloriously confusing years immediately following college education, Andrew had a revelation: “I could do this better.”
From that spark, McCaughey Standard Trivia was born. Operating this knowledge party since April of 2014, Andrew still pens every single question, develops every picture round, and sources every music track that appears in all of our games while steadfastly refusing to use AI. What started as one venue, and a growing room of regulars, has boomed into a current weekly engagement of sixteen venues, dozens of private events, and even more dozens of friendships created.
When not behind the booth, Andrew can be found leading kayaking ventures, engaging in local politics, traversing the wilderness with his wife Emily, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, and enjoying a pint of the nectar of the gods - Narragansett Lager.
You can generally find Andrew at Narragansett Brewing on Mondays, the Guild Pawtucket on Tuesdays, Newport Vineyard on Wednesdays, and filling in at one of the other venues on Thursday and/or Friday.
Ryan McAssey

A trivia teammate during Andrew’s formative Monday night drinkin’ n’ thinkin’ years, Ryan was brought on in 2019 to pick up the mic at some of our ever-growing roster of venues. Off of the mic, he is also the frantic fingers behind our newest marketing initiatives and the lens behind all of our custom photography (operating under his moniker of RJM Captures).
During the daytime hours, Ryan earns his keep as an advertising executive, towing the line between Mark Zuckerberg (minus the lizardperson complexion) and a modern day Don Draper (minus the whiskey…well some of the whiskey).
You can typically find Ryan at Tilted Barn on Wednesday nights.
Justin Pimental

Justin has been on the McCaughey Standard Trivia crew since March of 2019. In addition to doling out esoteric questions and answers, he doles out high stakes questions as an 8th grade Humanities teacher in Providence, Rhode Island. Previously, he taught Theatre Arts, English Language Arts and History. Justin works as a middling actor with Epic Theatre Company, as well as several other dramatic outfits in New England.
While Justin maintains a healthy knowledge of all things trivial , his main passion (beyond his lovely girlfriend) is professional wrestling. Justin, here and now, drops the gauntlet to any and all claiming to know more about fake fighting than he.

David Bagnall

When not hosting trivia Dave is often tracking down his favorite bands, pondering the greater meaning of things, exploring graveyards, or enjoying ice cream.
Rumor has it that he doesn’t own a single shirt with sleeves, yet winter is his favorite season. What can we say, the man is an enigma wrapped in a hard candy shell.
You can usually find Dave hosting at Pinehouse on Mondays and Newport Craft on Thursdays.
Chris Del Rosario

After spending a couple years playing (and dominating) the game at Proclamation Brewery, Chris found himself recruited into hosting duties in late 2024.
When he’s not hosting, you can find him at his day job as a Consultant. In his personal life, Chris can be found mostly working on motorcycles, though his fourth motorcycle accident made him seriously reconsider his life choices.
Political philosophy is pro rabbling or rousing, oftentimes both at the same time.
You can typically find Chris at VFW Post 5390 on Tuesday nights.

I enjoy hosting trivia because it gives me a platform and excuse to share completely unnecessary (and only sometimes relevant) additional fun facts related to the questions to a full room of people, rather than just annoying my wife.
My go-to trivia categories are geography, languages, sports, and college mascots.
When I'm not hosting trivia, I also bartend for the Guild in Pawtucket, and am the co-owner of a cheeky & delicious food & history walking tour company called Mostly Accurate Tours, where I also get to share more trivial knowledge about Providence.

You can tell a natural trivia host when they have a voracious appetite for reading, facts, and enjoy playing trivia when they aren’t hosting trivia. Michelle is all of these things and more. She’s a museum explorer. She builds robots that don’t try and destroy humanity. She is an incredible golfer. Plus, she’s the only professionally trained pastry chef we have on staff.
Sam McCaughey

What is more standard of a McCaughey then hiring family members? Though a far more serious fellow than Andrew as you can tell by his self portrait, his cousin Sam brings that probably definable family flavor to every game.
When not hosting, Sam can be found at improv, helping people with their mobile storage needs, playing music, cooking, kayaking, traveling, or rediscovering long lost pieces of clothing from the original McCaughey Standard.
